Motorcycle riders start out their motorcycling careers through a variety of paths. For example, many retirees take up motorcycling after they retire from a long career, and realize they want something they can enjoy and be passionate about in their golden years. Others realize they've been missing a passion and thrill in life that they discover one day by riding a motorcycle. Or maybe some people come across the sport in the midst of a mid-life crisis, only to have their lives changed forever for the better.

Then these days, there's the fact that more women than ever before are taking up motorcycling, and not only keeping up with the men, but even surpassing them in terms of skill and safety.

But however your entry into the exciting world of motorcycling, one fact remains clear. There is an overabundance of well-meaning but sometimes contradictory advice on how to best get started and how to learn the proper way to ride. Even the most naive rookie will quickly realize that there are many pitfalls when it comes to safety and finances when it comes to dealing with motorcycles.

You need to learn to cut through all the misinformed or simply unsafe information given by acquaintances or found on random websites, and focus on the fundamentals of safety and technique. First of all, do yourself and the world a favor, and get licensed.

Secondly, be safe by learning the proper skills from a licensed professional, and by wearing the appropriate safety gear at all times, especially a helmet (if there is only only thing you take away from this article, it is that you should always wear a helmet whenever you ride a motorcycle). There is a certain level of danger inherent in riding motorcycles that is simply not present when driving a car. You need to learn to accept these risks and learn to mitigate them with the proper skills and training, mindset, and protective apparel. To skimp on any of these areas will likely spell disaster. Employing them all will likely lead to a smooth, safe, comfortable and enjoyable ride, and a life-long hobby and fulfilling motorcycle career.

Third, even after you learn to ride, make it your life's commitment to constantly further your skills and learn how to be a better rider. No one masters everything there is to learn about riding motorcycles, and most riders have a long way to go before they can come even close to claiming mastery of the fine art of motorcycling. Be humble and willing to learn from others, especially those more experienced than you. Bike gatherings are perfect for exchanging knowledge, skills, and techniques (not to mention entertaining stories) with fellow riders. You'll probably make lifelong friends as well with enthusiastic and committed motorcyclists.

Once you try out motorcycling, there's an extremely high probability you'll get hooked, just like millions of other motorcycle riders have, and never look back. I just hope you'll be smart enough, assertive enough, and committed enough to make sure your motorcycling career is a prudent and safe experience that brings you long years of passionate enjoyment. Ride safe out there, and enjoy the ride!

When starting a law firm, you are going to have A LOT of things to consider - malpractice insurance, office location, phones, computers, location, employees, business cards, paper, the list goes on and on. The list of things can sound endless and be deflating. But, you can do all this. Of course, you already knew you could do it - that is why you are starting a law practice.

In my experience as a young lawyer starting a practice, I realized all of these things can be done - but not without clients to pay for it. To get clients you MUST market your new firm. I'll say it again: in starting my own law practice, the most important thing that I had to remember was that I had to market the firm all the time. Getting clients from day one is that absolute most important thing to do when starting a firm. Do it and do it well, or your new firm will not survive.

In an effort to get you jump started on thinking about marketing when starting a practice, I have come up with a Law Firm Marketing Top Ten List that I used when starting my own firm. Looking into new graduate RN jobs will help you to understand where you can get your feet wet and where you can get started on your exciting and future career.

There are a couple of different entry level positions that a registered nurse can take once they have graduated from their program and passed their NCLEX-RN exam. Some choose to take on a nursing assistant job, hoping to gain more information by assisting one of the nurses in the hospital. This is generally an entry level job for those who have only completed 2 years of a nursing program, however, and is somewhat below the entry level jobs available to RNs.

Most new registered nurses are going to take full time positions as a nurse in a hospital setting or physician's office. These nurses will have different duties based on their skill level and their experience. This means that new graduates are probably going to take the more basic nursing jobs that feature more basic requirements. These nurses will be expected to take vital signs and record patient information. Beyond that, the job depends on the place of employment.

Some hospitals and offices will rely on new graduate RNs to administer medication to patients. Others will ask them to speak with patients about their medication, and about the issues they face. They will work with the patients and help them to understand their dietary and exercise requirements or restrictions due to their injury, illness, or medication they will be taking. Other hospitals and offices are going to rely on their nurses for more clerical work. New nurses are often put in a job that mixes clerical work with nursing duties. The offices and hospitals do rely on these nurses in emergencies or during packed hours, however, giving these nurses the hands-on action they have been looking for.

New Graduate RN jobs are available, and will pay well. Nurses will make, on average, ,000 per year. Entry level nurses may see starting salaries around the ,000 or ,000 mark, but will see raises and increased wages at a fairly rapid rate.

Despite the poor job market, the nursing field is booming. New graduates can expect to find a wealth of jobs as they enter the job market. The nursing industry is expected to grow by over 20 percent over the next ten years. This number is roughly estimated at 500,000 jobs, opening up a job market for any interested parties. Most nurses will work in physician's offices or take on jobs in home health care services. Those who are interested in working in hospitals should know that the number of job opening for hospitals is expected to slow. With that being said, new graduate RN jobs will grow in all fields, giving recent grads an opportunity to jump into their career.

o If the new business fails, what is the alternative plan for income? Your car battery tends to be an afterthought when it comes to auto care and maintenance. When it comes to our cars, we tend to worry about things like engine problems, broken belts or hoses, and worn or flat tires. You don't expect something like a dead battery to stall your car.

It is one of the simplest parts of your car. It is just one piece and it either works, or it doesn't. You can't repair a battery if it doesn't work. You can always buy a new battery that will last you a long time, or you can jump start your battery. That is what people usually resort to. But for some people the very idea of a jump start is alien to them. Many people are not familiar with cars or how they work.

A dead battery is nothing to panic about. As opposed to other automotive problems that can happen to you while you're driving on the road, a dead battery usually happens after your car has been already parked or unused. So, chances are you might already be in a safe place to have your battery jumped or your car towed, if need be. Most times, dead batteries are products of your car not being used for a few days, or even a week or two. Sometimes it is just an old battery that has nothing in it to give anymore. So you might be back from that vacation you had planned to take all year, or just stepped into the department store for a half hour and found that your car is not starting.

All you need is the proper equipment and a few very basic tips on jump starting your battery to get you back on the road. It is the purpose of this article to educate the driving public on the more common task of battery boosting and the safety precautions one should take while doing it to make sure they don't get injured.

Preparing to Jump Start your Dead Battery

Before you start to even think of jump starting your battery, there are a few things you need to take into consideration. After you have done so, follow these guidelines:

Always make sure your battery is dead. Check the headlights to see if it's really the battery. See if they're working or are not that strong. If they're not strong, you probably have a dead battery. It's important to be one hundred percent sure because boosting a battery that doesn't need a boost can potentially damage the battery. Keep a set of jumper cables close by in the event that you will have to use them when you get stuck. You never know when you might need them, and they're not that easy to come by once you're stuck on the road. If you're stuck, you should wait for emergency personnel to come by and help you. But most of the time the people that will come and help you are everyday drivers. Once you find someone to give you a boost, have them park next to your car, or if possible, in front of your car. Open both hoods of both cars and locate the batteries. If you are unsure, consult the owner's manual. You might get confused by assuming it is under the hood, because in some cars it is located in a different spot amidst the engine, or even in the trunk. Before you start connecting jumper cables, make sure there are no leaks. Hydrogen gas can be emitted as a battery starts to lose its fluid and this can become very dangerous. It is flammable and that can cause fires, or even an explosion. If there are leaks or other visible damage to the battery, DO NOT JUMP START IT! Call a Los Angeles towing service and take it to your mechanic to have it replaced. Also, before giving your battery a jump start, make sure no part of either vehicle is in contact. To be safe, make sure you have a pair of gloves and a blanket to make sure if anything does happen to set off the battery you are able to put it out and stay safe. Once you have evaluated the situation of your dead battery, bring out the jumper cables. Make sure they are not tangled and once either end is attached to a car, make sure that the clasps don't touch each other. Before you secure the jumper cables, make sure that both cars are turned off. Next, place the jumper cables on the battery terminals that share their colors. Always place the red clasp on the positive, and the black clasps on the negative. Never cross the jumper cables to the opposite terminal. Now that you have both sides of the jumper cable connected to both cars, start the working car. To charge the battery, let the working car rev the engine for a minute or two. Always make sure that in order to get the proper juice to power the dead battery, check that the clasps are placed properly and securely. Turn on the car with the dead battery. Make sure that it turns on smoothly. If not, leave the jumper cables on a while longer. After the car starts working again, take the jumper cables off; each color respectively. Make sure that the caps that protect the terminals are placed back on to secure the battery from damage. The last thing you need to do is keep the car running for a few minutes and drive it around the block to make sure the car is getting the power it needs and that the battery can work on its own after you turn the car off. If you can't turn the car on after that, the issue could be with an alternator or the battery may just be too old to use any longer.

Your battery should be running well after following these steps. In some cases you might have a jump starter unit that can boost the battery without using another car. If so, follow the steps concerning the placing of the clasps on the terminals and charge as necessary. A jump starter pack should come with an instruction manual to illustrate how it should be used.

Make sure to follow these tips and you'll be fine. If there is something you are not sure of or if there is something that does not look right to you, you are better off waiting for emergency personnel like the Highway Patrol, or call a roadside assistance provider. 10 Questions to Ask Before Starting Your C-SOX Compliance Project

China's Basic Standard for Enterprise Internal Control (C-SOX) is coming into effect soon, and while some of the implementation guidelines have not been specified, the core of the regulation is in place.

The main purpose of C-SOX is to increase the effectiveness of internal controls in listed Chinese companies, thus reducing risks for companies and their stakeholders. Companies must evaluate their internal controls, publish an evaluation report on an annual basis and audit the effectiveness of their internal controls. These are new concepts to many organizations in China, and as a result there is some resistance and confusion to deal with. Below is a list of ten questions to address before starting your C-SOX implementation process.

1) Do we have an organization map? This document is the backbone of your C-SOX implementation because it shows the roles and responsibilities for the departments and employees. It will be used to assign areas of responsibility and internal control approval levels. If your organization does not have a recent map, work with your human resources department to put one together.

2) Who "owns" C-SOX? The answer should be the CEO and Board of Directors. If top management doesn't own the C-SOX process, it means that the company is not putting in the right amount of resources needed to make the implementation work. Companies that delegate C-SOX implementation to a specific department risk failure due to lack of support.

3) What is our current risk management framework? An existing risk management framework is a great starting point for C-SOX. It could be based on COSO, ERM or ISO 31000 - the point of departure is less important that the discipline that comes with a risk management process. If you do not have an existing risk management framework, you should hire an outside consultant or expert to help you.

4) How will IT help us? IT will play a key role in your C-SOX process, so it helps to get the IT team involved early. Part of the implementation will be buying new software (in fact, the Basic Standard for Enterprise Internal Control mandates the use of IT systems with in-built controls) and the IT department can help to draft a strategy and execute it.

5) What is our training plan? Your compliance initiative will not succeed if you don't train your staff. The training plan should include at least the following elements: why internal control is important, key internal controls, company policies and procedures, and who to go to with questions. Use e-learning to get the training out quickly and with maximum consistency.

6) Where is the expertise? If you don't have experts on internal control and risk management within your company, you should hire externally to jump start your project. There are many specialist consultants who can help you develop and execute your strategy and who will train your staff (this will reduce your costs in the long term).

7) What constitutes success? Make sure the CEO and top management have a shared vision of what C-SOX success looks like. This is a long process and there will be many steps along the way. Your implementation plan should detail key milestones and metrics for your business.

8) How do we evaluate staff performance? Several elements of C-SOX are related to human resources. Managers have to perform self-evaluations against internal control metrics, meaning that department managers will have to disclose information about their goals and objectives, and rate themselves on their performance. Furthermore, the Basic Standard for Enterprise Internal Control requires that compensation of executives be linked to internal control. These are new concepts for many companies, and setting up a performance management process is the best way to implement these requirements.

9) What's in it for me? Unless managers understand the benefits of C-SOX compliance, they are not likely to want to invest time and money in the process. Make sure you have an education campaign so staff understand where they fit in the process and the benefits to them.

10) What's next? C-SOX compliance is an on-going process, not a one-time event. There are always next steps and future plans and strategies that need to be implemented. You need a team that is able to implement existing requirements and plan ahead for what comes next.

The Basic Standard for Enterprise Internal Control is a wide-ranging rule which will impact every area of a company's business. You need to take care to address these fundamental questions before starting your implementation process.

Dressage-wicked easy test, but I was nervous & so was he, so it was TERRIBLE. We got a 40.5 (for those of you who don't know, the lower the score the better, out of 100) which is actually pretty good! That was the second best score--and it was only one point away from first best score. Stadium- pretty good. One refusal, and yes he bucked but it didn't count as a refusal. And I KNOW the jumps were tiny, but I swear to god you say anything, and you can come over here and try to show him any higher, because you'll be disqualified. I know this pony and I was trying to be safe, and it was a good descision. I did not fall, yay me, everyone clapped. Hah XC-not judged. He got a little excited & yes I did fall, it wasn't a big deal, and if you want to know what happened PM me, he cracked my helmet, but I am OKAY, so don't ask, it gets tedious. third place overall!!
